In a burst of reposts Sunday night, President Donald Trump amplified a warning by Kid Rock that electing Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed could lead to "some civil war over religious ideology."
Trump posted a clip of Rock speaking on "My View with Lara Trump" at 10:47 p.m. ET, then posted it again less than a minute later with a screenshot of additional commentary by an X user who claimed without evidence that El-Sayed wants to bring sharia law to the United States.
Trump made no comment of his own on either post about El-Sayed. Trump made five posts in four minutes Sunday evening, adding only a small bit of commentary on the final post.
El-Sayed is running against Republican Mike Rogers for the seat held by Democratic Sen. Gary Peters, who is not seeking reelection. Recent polls show a close race, with El-Sayed slightly ahead. If elected, El-Sayed would be the first Muslim senator.
In the 28 second clip, Kid Rock called El-Sayed a "wolf in sheep's clothing," and talked about demographic changes in Michigan. "I don't want to see my grandkids one day have to fight some civil war over religious ideology," he said.
No evidence was cited in the X screenshot for the sharia allegation. El-Sayed, appearing on Fox News in August, said: "Nobody is trying to push Sharia law on anyone else, just like I hope nobody is trying to push Canon law on anybody else, because we live in an America where you should have the freedom of your religion."
Trump levied similar attacks on El-Sayed last week, calling him a "Jihadist lunatic" who hates "the Black People of Detroit" and a "Terrorist Sympathizer" on Truth Social.
Trump has also pointedly referred to El-Sayed as Muhammad instead of Abdul, his actual first name. At a Saturday rally, Trump said: "I'm the president. I can call him whatever the hell I want."
The El-Sayed posts were part of a four-minute burst that also included campaign-optics clips — re-Truths of crowd size videos — and supporter content. At 10:49 p.m., in his last post of the evening, Trump shared a screenshot of a post by an X user named Dalisia Ballinger. Ballinger's post showed three Black women at a Trump event wearing and holding Trump merchandise.
"Adorable," wrote Trump in his caption. “Thank You!”
