President Donald Trump’s overnight posts mixed endorsements of a Republican running for Senate and attacks on a Democrat doing the same with posts on the president’s favorite subject: construction.
“Jon Husted, who is running for the Senate in the Great State of Ohio, is an ALL AMERICAN FOOTBALL PLAYER!” Trump wrote at 2 a.m. ET. “He will make a fabulous Senator, beating a guy, Sherrod Brown, who got thrown out by the people three years ago.”
The post included photos of a young Husted as a football player.
An hour later, Trump shared two graphics tying Democratic Senate candidate Roy Cooper to the release of criminals in North Carolina. The first, labeled “Governor Roy Cooper’s North Carolina,” showed an image from the surveillance video of the 2025 killing of Iryna Zarutska, a young Ukrainian refugee who was stabbed from behind by Decarlos Brown Jr., who had been arrested more than a dozen times before. The graphic also included Brown Jr.’s mugshot.
Trump later shared another graphic — a grid of mugshots — with the label “Roy Cooper and his Appointees Released 3,500 Criminals!”
Cooper has disputed that claim publicly. “No, Roy Cooper did not release 3,500 prisoners,” reads an FAQ on the candidate’s website. “A court ordered during COVID that the state reduce the prison population due to prison conditions.”
Earlier in the night, Trump also posted several photos of White House renovations and construction projects, including the new heliport.
“Over the years, the facade, both North and South, suffered tremendous wear, tear, and damage,” he wrote. “The exterior walls and ornamentation, both missing and in bad condition, has been fully restored to the Highest Level, giving the White House many decades of additional life! It had to be done, and I am very proud to be the President who did it!”
And just before midnight, Trump shared a Right Side Broadcasting Network video of a commentator at a Trump rally saying that figures on the right such as Tucker Carlson, Alex Jones, Megyn Kelly and Candace Owens had "turned on" the president.
The RSBN clip was recorded at Trump's Wednesday rally in Kalispell, Montana. Trump was there to campaign for Republican Aaron Flint, who is running for the seat held by retiring Rep. Ryan Zinke in the Nov. 3 election. Two election forecasters, the Cook Political Report and Sabato's Crystal Ball, recently shifted their views of the Montana race from "Likely Republican" to "Lean Republican" — a sign of the challenges Republicans face going into the midterms.
"They built their entire audience off the back of President Trump," the commentator said, adding that their criticism of Trump was a disgrace.
He said the crowd came for Trump, not "because of something Megyn Kelly said." The video also argued that MAGA remains loyal and is not fading or splintering. He added, "There is no MAGA without Trump, right?"
